Sports Complex Market and Feasibility Analysis and Development Advisory Services
The Mylan Park Foundation engaged B&D to assess the market demand for, and likely financial performance of, a new aquatic center and track & field complex in Morgantown, West Virginia. Recognizing a shared need for world-class recreation amenities designed to address market demand, B&D advised the development of a public-private partnership opportunity between the Foundation and West Virginia University
A competitive context analysis revealed a lack of indoor aquatic facilities in the area. Additionally, the assessment showed that Morgantown lacked modern track & field facilities capable of hosting West Virginia University athletics. B&D advised the Foundation that securing long-term partnerships with the University, as well as generating membership revenue, would be critical to achieving the desired facility’s operating goals.
The Mountaineer Center includes a 50-meter competition pool, a diving well and platform, a 25-yard community pool, a leisure pool and slide, warm water therapy pools, wet classrooms, fitness space, and an outdoor splash pad. The project was opened in fall 2019 and is managed by B&D’s sister company, CENTERS.
