In a move that promises to deliver deeper insight and greater value to on-campus housing professionals, the Association of College and University Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I) has announced a new partnership with Brailsford & Dunlavey aimed at enhancing the utility of the Campus Housing Index (CHI).
The three-year collaboration was introduced at ACUHO-I’s State of the Profession gathering in San Diego this past January and is designed to strengthen how institutions across North America leverage housing data to inform decisions, advocate for resources, and benchmark operations. While the CHI has long served as a cornerstone benefit for ACUHO-I members, this new initiative will expand its impact through expert analysis and applied industry insight.
At the core of the partnership is a shared goal: helping housing professionals make sense of complex datasets in order to drive better outcomes for their institutions. B&D, a national advisory firm specializing in education facilities and operations, will work with ACUHO-I to analyze de-identified CHI data along with other relevant industry datasets. The results will be delivered through a series of white papers, webinars, and presentations designed to turn raw information into actionable intelligence.
“This is about amplifying a resource that many campuses already use and trust,” said Mary DeNiro, CEO of ACUHO-I. “By working with a firm like Brailsford & Dunlavey, we can bring new perspective to the data and help our members apply it in more meaningful ways.”
Importantly, all institutional data shared with B&D will remain anonymous. ACUHO-I emphasized that no campus names, locations, or other identifiable information will be included in the data provided for analysis — a safeguard intended to protect member confidentiality while still allowing for broad trend identification and sector-level insights.
The initiative aligns with ACUHO-I’s strategic plan, particularly its focus on influential leadership and expanding member value through strategic partnerships. It also mirrors an approach being embraced by many other professional associations: tapping into the analytical horsepower of trusted partners to translate data into strategy.
For B&D, the partnership reflects a long-standing commitment to supporting housing leaders through tailored, evidence-based guidance. “The CHI is a powerful dataset, and we’re excited to help surface the stories it can tell,” said Jeff Turner, Co-President of B&D’s Higher Education Practice Group. “This collaboration gives us a chance to work alongside ACUHO-I in elevating the work of housing professionals nationwide.”
With the 2025 Campus Housing Index now live, members can expect to see the first wave of insights from the partnership in the coming months. ACUHO-I says additional resources and events will be announced as the initiative unfolds.
