Partnering to define a future-forward, mission-aligned student experience at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

B&D’s project team made a recent visit to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as part of the firm’s engagement to help the university define and plan the ideal Cal Poly Student Experience. With the campus entering a transformational era, this collaboration focuses on creating a forward-thinking and mission-aligned strategy that prioritizes student success and well-being.

A cornerstone of this effort is the B&D-led comprehensive student housing development plan, designed to meet the evolving needs of students while fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus community.

A cornerstone of this effort is the B&D-led comprehensive student housing development plan, designed to meet the evolving needs of students while fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus community. “Cal Poly is at a pivotal moment, and it’s exciting to help shape a student experience that will impact generations to come,” said Laura Kane, B&D project lead. “Our work is about ensuring every decision aligns with the university’s mission and vision for the future.”

B&D’s relationship with Cal Poly spans years of impactful work, including the planning of the campus recreation center, university union, and other Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) initiatives. These projects have not only enhanced campus life but also laid the foundation for this next phase of transformation.

As Cal Poly reimagines its student experience, Brailsford & Dunlavey is proud to partner with the university to provide strategic guidance. Together, we are crafting a vision that reflects the unique needs of Cal Poly students while preparing the campus for an exciting future.

"The leadership and information from B&D, and the clarity with which they provide it, brings added credibility to the process and ensures that a range of university stakeholders, including senior leadership and our board, are fully informed for – and confident in – their required decision making.”
